Woven Stone Sauvignon Blanc - BEST WHITE WINE Korean Wine Challenge 2012
The Ohau Wines' label Woven Stone Sauvignon Blanc 2011 has scooped the top award for BEST WHITE WINE at an international wine challenge in Korea recently. In addition, the two Pinot Gris labels, Ohau Gravels and Woven Stone 2011 vintages also received Silver medals. Ohau Gravels 2011 Launch
The launch of the 2011 Ohau Wines was held on 29 August at the Wine Loft. Speakers included Viticulturist Kate Gibbs and Winemaker Jane Cooper talking about the 2011 vintage. Food from the Wine Loft was superbly matched and included sauteen chilli & lime prawns, seared scallops with fennel and lemon with a cauliflower puree, lemongrass chicken, pork and shitake mushroom dumplings, and more. The Maori word Ohau, the brand name under which Peter Healy markets his wine throughout Asia, sounds like "everything is excellent" when heard by Mandarin speakers.
But while Healy and Ohau Gravels are making inroads into the enormous Chinese market, he is finding things are generally much better south of the border in Vietnam.
